EPA And Hybrid Car Ratings: What You Need To Know

When it comes to hybrid cars, they’re probably the highest selling items in the car industry today. It’s only expected, though, considering the ratings that the EPA or the Environmental Agency are giving them. Charged with protecting and safeguarding the natural environment, it’s the EPA’s ratings that really matter when it comes to choosing the right hybrid vehicle to buy.

What It’s All About?

Wondering what EPA has to do with it? Most hybrids these days that are for sale to the general public have to have an EPA rating and it is this rating that will tell a consumer just how much fuel is saved when it comes to a hybrid’s mileage.

These ratings are usually translated by the consumer into fuel efficiency and thus monetary savings. But more important than that, the EPA determines which cars are the most fuel-efficient, which ones have the least amount of carbon monoxide emissions, and therefore which ones are the fittest for the environment in general. Of course, this does not mean that gas-powered cars are not allowed on the road. Basically, the EPA ratings on hybrids help consumers make the right choice in car purchases.

But What Is It Really All About?

The EPA ratings system has always been around. In fact, at some point the ratings had to change with the introduction of hybrid cars. The EPA has mandatory fuel-economy tests that have to be carried out on all cars, old and new, sold in the United States.

These tests are conducted on about 15% of all cars. One of these tests is on fuel economy which involves city and highway cycles to see the result on what kind of usage cars have when it comes to fuel consumption. For the year 2008, these tests have changed in many ways and the EPA has revised testing methods because of the introduction of hybrid cars.

Hybrid car ratings are now calculated using a dynamometer and these results will be shown on labels that will be attached to the vehicles to show what fuel economy estimates there are per model. These ratings make it easier for the consumer to pick the most fuel-efficient hybrid car.

These days, it’s no big secret that hybrid cars are the most fuel-efficient and it’s one of the reasons why these cars are becoming more popular. But fuel efficiency is a different story with all the model cars that are coming out of the assembly line from various car manufacturers. Some of the most fuel efficient includes the Ford Focus with an EPA rating of 24 miles in the city/35 miles on the highway to the gallon, the Honda Fit with a rating of 33 miles in the city/38 miles on the highway, and the Honda Civic with 30 miles in the city/38 miles on the highway. And these ratings are more different if those cars are automatics.

It’s these easy ratings that help consumers make the right choice, helping them to pick cars that suit their lifestyles. It is exactly why the EPA conducts its tests and comes up with hybrid car ratings, which is fitting since more people are now making the switch to the hybrid car.

A small briggs and stratton running on hydrogen and oxygen from an ondemand electrolysis unit. The video was done on a phone (Quality Poor)... The engine is started on petrol, the petrol immediately switched off... it takes over 1 minute for the petrol to run out and the pure gas (HHO) from water takes over... Mmmm, super smooth, quiet, no fumes... Just got to make more gas to run the car! INSTRUCTIONS: Leave the carb as it is.... Take the air filter off and fit a face plate to attach your new inputs on... You want in air in tap for running on petrol and a gas in tap for the HHO The HHO needs a really small tube to carry it as close to the intake inside the engine as u possibly can to keep a pressure as it enters the manifold... And thats it! ;) Start her on fuel and count how long it takes for the engine to rev lean as it runs out of fuel...Our little Briggs motor took approx 27 seconds to run out of fuel, so as soon as it goes waaeer! Tunr off the air intake tap and slowly start to add the HHO... Keep your eye on the HHO, you dont want to allow to much gas to flow, you need to maintain system pressure... As you hear in the video, the engine then settles in for another 30-40 seconds, this is the last 2 seconds of fuel being stretched out by the HHO... Then the engine note changes again into super quiet mode, the fuel has run out! WHack the HHO tap on full and thats it! Once it is happy you can then tweak the air mixture tap to get more power... A good strong stainless ...

These are some of the concepts I wanted to discuss with people who are interested in the subject. Currently I came across some designs for making water explode but without a hydrogen electrolysis process. By generating a plasma electrical wave you can ignite water at rates of 4500 Meters a Second. It creates an extremely strong shock wave through the air. Another aspect of this theory is that you can mist water into your cylinders, or a cold water vapor. Then generate a plasma spark ignition with a standard spark plug or a firestorm plug of some sort. This video is evidence that a plasma ignition in water will make a shock wave and in turn the ability to explode water inside your cylinder. Could this have been Stanley Meyers final design before he was poisoned? Did he hold the future of the combustible engine in the palm of his hand. Water mist injector, with a plasma plug?
