Why Choose Half Water Half Gas As A Hydrogen Conversion Guide?

by Harold Winslow

Half Water Half Gas is the latest addition to the series of different Do-It-Yourself hydrogen car conversion kit guides that are now available on the internet. So how can this new guide hope to have a chance against the more popular Water 4 Gas and Run Your Car On Water? And also how does it compare to the already popular and well used guides?

The people who came up with this guide are most likely marketers, I can say this because I know for a fact that “ozzie” who came up with the original guide Water4Gas was a marketer who used the plans for the conversion and turned them into a product. The thing is, that is not really important as long as it is providing the consumer with what they are looking for. I believe the devolopers of this product were very smart, because they included video as a format for the instructions for conversion.

This factor really does make it a lot easier for many people. Because of the way that different folks learn and grasp the information differently, by covering different ways of learning, the developers of Half Water Half Gas have really done a great job.

So in terms of comparison to the other guides, how does Half Water Half Gas shape up? Well at the price of $67 it comes somewhere right in between the price of the other two main guides (Water 4 Gas at $97, and Run Your Car On Water at $49.97). The detail of the guide is very good, as I mentioned it uses video as a means of instruction, so that allows one to really get a very clear idea of the process.

How easy is this guide to implement? Well when it comes down to it, this guide along with pretty much all the other guides use the same process of implementation, just with slightly different approaches. Half Water Half Gas does turn out to be pretty easy to implement. You might find it hard if you have no idea how to do any maintenaince on your car. If you aren’t comfortable doing basic maintenance, I recommend getting a professional to install it for you.

The customer support for this guide while not as good as Water 4 Gas, was still responsive within 48 hours, and did seem to understand how to help during any hiccups. That being said, because of the nature of having on screen visuals (the video) as instruction, far less people would be relying on customer support with the use of this guide.

For what you are paying for this guide, I think the value is pretty good. I think that almost anyone with the intention of installing their own hydrogen conversion kit would be pleased with this product. That being said all of these products are sold through ClickBank, and in my own experience when I have not been happy with something I bought it was a very minor deal to just get my money back.

If you are having any doubts about the fact that hydrogen fuel technology works, just ask yourself, do you think that the multimillion dollar companies would want to invest millions of dollars into this technology if it did not work? No, its obvious that this technology is valid, and its only because of corruption and greed that it stayed under the table for so long.

John-Denver.org http://www.john-denver.org/Default.asp John-Denver.org is the web home of The World Family of John Denver, a closely knit group of individuals committed to preserving the legacy of the late singer, John Denver. Artist: John Denver Album: Back Home Again 1974 Song: Annie's Song You fill up my senses Like a night in the forest Like the mountains in springtime Like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert Like a sleepy blue ocean You fill up my senses Come fill me again Come let me love you Let me give my life to you Let me drown in your laughter Let me die in your arms Let me lay down beside you Let me always be with you Come let me love you Come love me again Let me give my life to you Come let me love you Come love me again You fill up my senses Like a night in the forest Like the mountains in springtime Like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert Like a sleepy blue ocean You fill up my senses Come fill me again * John Denver (Dec 31, 1943 - Oct 12, 1997) On October 12, 1997, Denver was killed when the Long-EZ aircraft he was piloting crashed just off the coast of California at Pacific Grove, shortly after taking off from the Monterey Peninsula Airport. Denver apparently lost control of the aircraft while attempting to manipulate the fuel selector handle after running out of fuel in one tank. Witnesses stated that the plane made a sudden pitch-down plunge into the water, leading to speculation that, in reaching around to the rear, Denver bumped or kicked the side-stick control ... There was no trace of alcohol or any other drug in Denver's body at autopsy, however. As the wreck badly disfigured Denver's body which was then identified by right hand fingerprints sent from the Aspen Police Department in Colorado. The pilot of the Long-EZ was indeed the fallen singer. Upon announcement of his death, Governor Roy Romer of Colorado ordered all Colorado flags to be lowered to half-staff to honor Denver. He was cremated alongside his 1910 Gibson guitar that his grandmother had given him, and subsequently inspired much of his legacy. Denver's life was celebrated at funeral services at Faith Presbyterian Church in Aurora, Colorado on October 17, 1997. His ashes were scattered in the Rocky Mountains. RIP ... Dear John! *
US destroy spy satellite with missile. Best Quality

WASHINGTON: A missile interceptor launched from a navy warship has struck a dying American spy satellite orbiting 130 miles over the Pacific Ocean, the Pentagon announced late Wednesday. Officials cautioned that while early information indicated that the interceptor's "kill vehicle" had hit the satellite, it would be 24 hours before it could be determined whether the fuel tank with 1,000 pounds of toxic hydrazine had been destroyed as planned. Even so, one official who received a late-night briefing on the mission expressed confidence that the impact had been so powerful that the fuel tank probably had been ruptured. Completing a mission in which an interceptor designed for missile defense was used for the first time to attack a satellite, the Lake Erie, an Aegis-class cruiser, fired a single missile just before 10:30 p.m. Eastern time, and the missile hit the satellite as it traveled at more than 17,000 miles per hour, the Pentagon said in its official announcement. "A network of land-, air-, sea- and spaced-based sensors confirms that the U.S. military intercepted a nonfunctioning National Reconnaissance Office satellite which was in its final orbits before entering the Earth's atmosphere," the statement said. By early Wednesday, three navy warships were in position in the Pacific Ocean to launch the interceptors and to track the mission. Radar and other tracking equipment, both in space and on the ground, were monitored at Vandenberg Air Force Base, in California, and at a space command headquarters in Colorado Springs, with control of the operation managed by the Strategic Command in Omaha, Nebraska. Although the satellite circles the globe every 90 minutes, analysts pinpointed a single overhead pass each day that would offer the best chance of striking the satellite and then having half of the debris fall into the atmosphere in the next three orbits over water or less-populated areas of the Earth. Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who left Washington on Wednesday for a week of meetings in Asia, had been empowered by President George W. Bush to issue the order to shoot down the satellite and gave the order several hours before the strike. The many moving parts of a mission to shoot down a dying spy satellite with an antimissile interceptor were lined up earlier Wednesday after the space shuttle Atlantis returned to Earth, officials said. The goal of the mission was to prevent the fuel tank from reaching Earth and spilling its hazardous contents in a populous area. In the event that any of the hydrazine fuel falls on a populated area, the Federal Emergency Management Agency on Wednesday issued directions to communities on how to deal with dangerous debris from the satellite. Military officials said their goal had been to carry out the mission before March 1, when the satellite was expected to start skidding against the upper reaches of the atmosphere. That initial friction would bump the satellite into a more unpredictable Earth orbit, even before it started a fiery descent through the atmosphere. Providing new information about how the mission would be carried out, a senior military officer on Wednesday described the vessels, weapons and command structure for the operation The senior military officer said the mission would be launched in daylight to take advantage of radar, heat-sensor tracking and visual tracking equipment. The navy had a window that lasted only tens of seconds as the satellite passed overhead, military officers said. An Aegis cruiser, the Lake Erie, has two Standard Missile 3 rockets that were adapted to track the cold satellite, as opposed to the heated enemy warheads for which it was designed. A second ship, the destroyer Decatur, had a third missile as backup. Another navy destroyer, the Russell, sailed with the convoy for added tracking capabilities. Separately, a Pentagon spokesman, Bryan Whitman, dismissed suggestions that the operation had been designed to test the nation's missile defense systems or antisatellite capabilities or that the effort had been to destroy secret intelligence equipment. "This is about reducing the risk to human life on Earth, nothing more," Whitman said. The 5,000-pound satellite, roughly the size of a school bus, was managed by the National Reconnaissance Office and went dead shortly after it was launched in December 2006. The FEMA document notes, "Any debris should be considered potentially hazardous, and first responders should not attempt to pick it up or move it."
Bare-handed bottle smash

DANGEROUS DEMONSTRATION! If you wear a ring, you might shatter the bottle and slice your hand. And sometimes the whole bottle breaks into razor-edged shrapnel. ----- It's quite easy to blow the bottom out of glass bottles... if you know the secret. Even wine bottles sometimes work. But not cider jugs, since the pressure peak is too small if the square inches is large. That vacuum bottle at the start? I made it as follows. (DANGER, explosion hazard!) Find a bottle with a lid, one which is short enough to fit inside a microwave oven. Get an ice cube, save it for later. First de-gas some water by boiling it on the stove for about half an hour. Fill your glass bottle almost full with the boiling hot water. (Careful! The bottle may shatter!) Place a wooden stick inside, then cook it on high in your microwave oven until it starts boiling again (several minutes.) Now remove the wood stick and place the lid loosely on top of the bottle. Cook on medium for several minutes, this replaces the air with live steam as well as heating the metal lid to 100C. Now using gloves, suddenly pop open the microwave door, grab the bottle and screw down the lid, then place the ice-cube on the lid, and put it in the oven for safety. DANGER, THE BOTTLE MIGHT EXPLODE AT THIS TIME! Leave the bottle alone and stay far from the oven. With luck it will cool down without any problem, and the air above the water will have been replaced by a good vacuum.
Pantone Magnetic Plasma Fuel Reactor Engine-GEET(SPAD)French

Exhaust Heat Utilisation Device(EHUD). ---------------------------------------------------------- Yes. That is what I would call it and that may be the only name it should be called. What about Heat Energy Assistance Tube(HEAT)? That also sounds right. Paul Pantone's "GEET Engine"(called "Endothermic Reactor" in its previous incarnation) is demonstrated here, including claims of running GEET on Urine, Soda or Water; discovery of new elements not found in periodic tables, MIT's theft of his "invention", Nobel Prize for him and his wife, etc. Paul was a Highschool dropout, a carpenter who gaveup his carpentry job after a serious leg injury. Check ... http://www.geet-pantone.com/newsarticle.html - check the "Marin Independent Journal" Article - After the loss of his primary source of income from carpentry, he started working fulltime on this GEET idea - Blending the exhaust fumes containing heat and carbon-dioxide with water and synthesize a fuel out of it, a technically impossible dream, using a steel rod, which he called "Plasma Electrode". The name Endothermic Reactor was so named for this quest to create the ultimate holy grail in energy. One of GEET's claim is that this will allow a car to run for 100 to 120 miles on a single gallon of gas. Some believers of this technology have reported 80 to 82 miles(but none of them verifiable or demoed to any scientists or engineers) GEET is also manufactured as SPAD in FRANCE and other european countries with some modifications. A Layman's Review of the GEET System is below: ---------------------------------------- Global Environmental Energy Technology (GEET) is a composition of unique fuel system components that allow an internal combustion engine's fuel efficiency to be increased substantially while dramatically reducing its toxic & greenhouse gas emissions by 90 % or more. Individuals have reported a 20% to 800% increase in fuel efficiency. The toxic exhaust reductions are so extraordinary that there have even been reports of GEET modified engines running for hours inside closed rooms with many people present without any known ill effect to person, plant or animal. --Poster's Comment:(Please note that as per Geetfriends.com, Paul Pantone was hospitalized due to carbon monoxide poisoning and GEET may have caused his brain damage due to this). GEET allows the by-products of combustion to be recycled back into the intake of the internal combustion engine through a system of unique components. Basic components are as follows: 1. A GEET modified carburetor 2. The GEET reactor chamber 3. The "Air Mix Valve" (AMV) 4. The "Bubbler" 5. The bubbler control mix valve All that GEET needs is water to run the engine. The process is simple: Combusted gasses are introduced into the GEET outer/exhaust reactor chamber causing a voltage build-up in the chamber. The voltage build-up also has its associated magnetic field. The combined exhaust and bubbler [fuel/air mixture (primarily water and exhaust gasses)] components entering the inner/intake chamber of the reactor chamber pass through this same electro/magnetic field and are recombined into a combustible mixture and subsequently re-induced back into the engine via the modified GEET carburetor. The bubbler control valve controls the mixture of exhaust gasses returning to the engine and the Air Mix Valve (AMV) controls the amount of fresh air added to the reactor mixture returning to the engine. ------------------------------------------ In order to read the news articles about this contraption, I urge you to read the articles in the following link, specifically "Marin Indepedndent Journal" Dt: Nov 07, 1992 located at: http://www.geet-pantone.com/newsarticle.html As per the news article referred to above, the theory behind this contraption violates 2 out of 3 laws of thermodynamics and law of relativity. Paul counters that argument saying that 'science is the enemy of progress'. Tests conducted at Shell Emission labs and financed by the newspapers who have bought this story shows that a single engine lawn mower GEET produces as much pollution as a six cylinder engine and torque about half(This may be noted from the same Marin Indepedndent Journal report referred to above) Fraud Case details are here: http://www.phact.org/e/z/PantoneSecuritiesFraud.htm and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Pantone

English Translation: on May 24, 2007, 18:47 Dear Compatriots, Honourable Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, For the last 16 years, we have been striving, with unrelenting resolve and without faltering in our steps, to ensure steady economic growth in order to raise and ameliorate the living standards and lifestyle of our people. Not to do so would have rendered our independence, for which we yearned for more than two generations and paid heavy sacrifices in the political and armed struggles that we waged, symbolic indeed. It was not easy to initially lay, from scratch, the foundations of a devastated economy. To resurrect those foundations after the new cycle of destruction wrought by Ethiopia 's recent invasion, exacerbated by incessant hostilities, further amplified the hurdles that we had to overcome. This is too obvious to merit elaboration. Yet, because we toiled, tirelessly, indomitably, and unperturbedly, our accomplishments thus far are beyond comparison indeed. We had no qualms to recognize humanitarian assistance as a transient imperative, indeed even as our right, during austere times until we find relief and recoup the opportunities denied to us for generations. It was this realization that prompted us to solicit humanitarian aid in the first place. However, this was misconstrued as a weakness to foster an attitude of: "Let us bind the hands with which you work and eat, and, let us spoon-feed you" with all its attendant pressures. Thus, when practical and effective alternatives were shunned, we opted for economic liberation and subsequently augmented our own efforts for economic development and growth, to deliver ourselves from the bondage of mendicancy. As a result, we stand on a more sound footing today. This is why we have been working vigorously to ensure "Food Security"; which we saw as primarily a transitional objective from the outset. Indeed, food security, per se, is not the ultimate goal, but an objective for a specific phase aimed at enabling us to produce sustainable surplus in crop output. The productivity of land must be increased; irrigation farming must be developed and propagated instead of mere reliance on rainfall. Instead of limiting and debilitating agricultural land in plots and slopes, it must be leveled and flattened extensively. The wide Eastern and Western plains must be redeemed from traditional pasturage and desolation, and, be cultivated extensively with irrigated water. High-yield seeds must be selected and multiplied. Traditional agriculture must be substituted, in a phased process, by modern and efficient plowing, sowing and harvesting machinery, complemented by advanced and effective drip and spray technology. Pesticides and fertilizers must be extensively, but scrupulously, employed hand in hand with modern projects that enhance livestock production. Activities that destroy the environment must be inhibited. Modern agro-industrial plants must be established and expanded. Research and training capabilities must be strengthened. Instead of being content with a single harvest a year, we should strive, whenever possible, to obtain two or three harvests a year. The cumulative objective is to ensure that our programmes of food security attain surplus production and yield competitive exports. All the aforementioned feasible and attainable programs require the implementation of extensive and vigorous soil and water conservation programs; construction of dams, micro dams, diversion canals and wells; provision of machinery and essential equipment in the adequate quantity and appropriate quality; as well as prudent planning, efficient organization and implementation in tandem with financial resources and tireless work. How long will it take to implement, stage by stage, all the objectives listed above and to secure fulfillment of our needs? Inarguably, this cannot be achieved overnight. Nevertheless, to shorten the time, redoubled efforts and sacrifice will always be necessary. Our achievement in the past years was anchored on these premises. Still we have to ask how much of what we planned did we really accomplish? Setting aside accurate measurement standards, we cannot claim to have accomplished even 25% of our plans even by rough, optimistic, estimates. Nevertheless, because we stretched our resources and broadened our efforts, there was no lost time. And although the various programmes we have implemented so far have not ensured 100% food security, it has nonetheless reached an irreversible stage, and can thus be dubbed successful. The experiences gleaned and the efficiency honed along the way, have moreover prompted us to focus on refinement and consolidation of previous programmes, instead of launching many new programmes for the year 2006-2007. To achieve the desired result and taking into account the anticipated rains, our efforts must continue without letup. Moreover, as our capabilities accumulate in these processes, the prospects for higher output in 2007-2008 are more brighter. In our aims to achieve food security, the exploitation of our fisheries has been pursued with the same profound focus and expectation as agriculture. However, despite our high hopes and expectations, we have not been able to exploit even 10% of the potential output. The opportunities that we created to encourage foreign investment in the sector have not borne fruit. Instead, they inhibited local growth and entailed abuse and pillage. In the circumstances, there is no better alternative to earnest endeavors aimed at developing our own fishing capacity in a highly organized manner, hand in hand with the establishment of proper infrastructure and sustenance of processing and transport facilities. At the same time, we continue to recognize the importance of finding sincere investors and partners, in meaningful ventures and market outlets, and are not sparing efforts towards that end. In this regard, we have not also underrated the substantial challenges posed by the limitations of our human resources and management competencies. The preparations to make the year 2008 a turning point will indeed significantly augment the contributions of the fisheries sector to the overall objective of food security. We have embarked on impressive projects, throughout the past years, in infrastructure fully realizing that infrastructure - that is roads, air-ports, sea ports, electricity and water supply, communications, terrestrial, maritime, and aerial transport, network of free zones, etc. - is a prerequisite for attracting all kinds of investment. The prospect to launch much bigger projects both by leveraging domestic resources and through joint venture arrangements are better than ever today. Thus, from this year onward, we shall embark on even greater projects. The incremental provision of residential housing to our citizens at a fair price and with equitable distribution is one of the infrastructural projects we have pursued with paramount interest. But although much has been built, it still falls far short than current and projected demand. Persistent efforts will thus be made to expedite the process in order to harmonize supply and demand in quantitative, qualitative and price terms. Tourism is one of the promising sectors that will fuel economic growth. The comparative advantages and opportunities that ensue from our natural endowments in general and our sea coast in particular is inarguable indeed. Nonetheless, the obvious lack of infrastructure and proper services had limited any significant investment in the sector in the past years. At this time however, the cumulative infrastructural investments put in place coupled with the promising and tangible opportunities that are already in the horizon will enable us to launch and set in motion really big projects. Still, our expectations must not be exaggerated and we need to recognize that we shall have to work with much added vigour to accomplish the initial requirements. In Industry, various enterprises in the agro-industrial and fish-processing sub-sectors that are primarily geared to meet domestic demand and in which we have competitive advantages are in their final stages of completion. The aim is not only to boost production, but to ensure product quality and export potential as well. If the schemes underway to increase cotton production make good progress, they will stimulate growth in the textile and clothes manufacturing enterprises. The same applies to tanneries. Big investments are also underway to bolster production of building materials, (such as granite, marble and others), for the domestic market as well as for export. With regard to markets, it is obvious that there are legitimate concerns regarding the hike of prices. The impact and ramification of unstable and rapidly rising global oil prices has of course to be taken into account. The arbitrary hike in the price of commodities and consumer products attributed to capricious and illegal practices and that cannot be justified in terms of regional and international market levels will however require better regulation. In this regard, various assessments that have been underway to ensure the realignment of prices will be guided towards practical measures in order to ensure fairness. In the mining sector, it is well-known that a lot of exciting information has been disseminated and is already in the public domain. True, it has been proven that our mineral resources are large. Yet, exploiting this endowment and perpetuating its benefits for future generations requires judicious agreements with prospective partners and the consolidation of our national capabilities. Suffice it to say that we are unhurriedly and earnestly striving towards that direction lest the boon of minerals becomes a bane and a factor of disillusion. Ladies and Gentlemen, Economic development is not confined to economic sectors only. There are other areas, just as important, which have shown considerable growth and a marked significance in determining economic growth and the alleviation of living standards. These are: the augmentation of health and educational services in terms of their quality and equitable spatial distribution; expanding social security programs that rectify imbalances of opportunity and the fair distribution of national resources; ensuring that governance and management are efficient and effective; strengthening media outreach to increase knowledge and awareness by disseminating timely and reliable information; expanding cultural activities and fine arts profoundly and extensively so as to invigorate spiritual values. Bolstering our security and defense capabilities -- at times by according it a much higher priority -- is another task for which we have exerted unflagging efforts. This is not only to safeguard our sovereignty but also to protect the progress of our development drives. Ladies and Gentlemen, All the issues I have mentioned so far are not novel. They are summaries and reminders invoked on this special annual occasion so as to focus our attention. What have been accomplished are indeed tremendous relative to the short-span of time and paucity of opportunities; temporary shortage of resources; and, incessant external hostilities. But we have never been complacent at any given time. Even now, the prospects of a better future are not going to delude us. Definitely and inarguably, nothing will block our determined efforts to ensure, ultimately, irreversible and sustainable development through harder work. Ladies and Gentlemen, Memories are still fresh in our minds of the destruction and retrogression wreaked by the invasion which intended to strangle our development and progress. Our progress in defiance of the regressive forces has not only unsettled our foes, but increased their panic. It would be an understatement to say that these unwarranted hostilities are today bordering on madness. Although it is possible to enumerate many sinister plots, it is the boundary issue that continues to be brandished as the principal instrument to keep us entangled under constant threat and uncertainty and thereby impede our development and stability. Indeed, five years have elapsed since the ruling of the Boundary Commission. During those five years, over and above the desire to hold us hostage to uncertainty, no rock was left unturned in pursuit of the futile hopes to overthrow the Government, create chaos and turmoil, sanction the border invasion and reduce Eritrea into a subservient appendage. One plot is foiled... Another plot is concocted, and, foiled; ...without let up. The egregious objective is transparent. The tactic employed constitutes of "buying time through continuous deception". In the wishful thinking that the hope might be realized one day! But until when will this continue? We recall last year's ploy and its outcome. This year's defunct scheme within the "constant tactic" revolves around the last Resolution of the Security Council. But before we delve into the contents and analysis of the Resolution, it is helpful to know, for better understanding, how and by whom the Resolution was crafted in the first place. The Resolution was drafted and proposed by officials of the US administration. Unsurprisingly, when the draft was tabled, the other members of the Security Council did not raise any issue with the exception of one Member State . When this Member State suggested amendments to imbue it with some balance, the US representative insisted that the draft was unalterable. The Resolution was thus adopted as is in the name of the UN Security Council. One of the standard ploys that we find repeated in the Resolution is the attempt to deflect attention from the cardinal border issue and dilute it by focusing on "the Temporary Security Zone, and withdrawal from it." Temporary means temporary. At one occasion, the Special Representative of the Secretary General had disclosed that the peacekeeping force, deployed then for a year and a half, would extend its stay to five years. One may ask, "Who authorized or prodded him to make such a statement? And is there a specific time-frame for the term "Temporary"? That temporary meant until the completion of border demarcation is of course apparent to everyone. US administration officials who have rejected the "final and binding" Award to flout the rule of law; and who have overtly and repeatedly impeded the process from proceeding to physical demarcation after consummating all the necessary technical processes, have rendered obsolete, more than any other party, the Temporary Security Zone in real terms. In the circumstances, no party should expect the Government of Eritrea to watch idly, paralyzed by willfully created uncertainty, while a quarter of its sovereign territory is doomed to dereliction deprived from any development work. To undertake development programmes with the requisite security arrangements is the sovereign and legal right of the Government and people of Eritrea . This does not require the permission of any party. And, the Eritrean Defense Forces have the obligation and right to conduct development programs and ensure protection in this part of the country just as they do in other parts of our sovereign territory. To insinuate that the TPLF regime, which has been allowed to violate the Peace Agreement, obstruct demarcation, and occupy sovereign Eritrean territory, has equal rights in the TSZ as the people and Government of Eritrea, and to peddle perfidious accusations against Eritrea, is an illegal and perverse scheme that erodes the stature of the UN Security Council and that cannot deceive anyone. The Resolution contains a seemingly novel and significant article acknowledging Ethiopia 's "acceptance" of the Award. This subterfuge is deliberately inserted to sow confusion and give undue credit to the TPLF regime. The fact is the TPLF regime was instructed by US Administration officials to announce obliquely its "acceptance" of the Award just prior to the passing of the Resolution. The advice went: "the announcement will give us the necessary latitude to ram through the Resolution at the UNSC.... Later until November 2007 and beyond, you can revert to your usual game of buying time and scuttling the process through equivocation". The Article which contains the clause: "pledges support to the Peacekeeping Force" is hollow by the same analogy as the Article referring to the "integrity of the TSZ". US Administration officials have rendered meaningless the Zone and its temporary essence. Issues that crop up in regard to the Peacekeeping Force are consequences of this grave transgression. Leaving the fundamental question aside, the Government of Eritrea's decision to show restraint and refrain from taking appropriate measures when it knows full well that the underlying parameters of the TSZ have been violated, and, UNMEE's deployment rendered meaningless and is being utilized as a cover for other purposes, must be appreciated indeed. The Resolution further heralds the appointment of a "Special Envoy to normalize the relations between the two countries." This too is another worn-out scheme. How can normalization or regional peace possibly prevail when Agreements are violated, the Award and the rule of law breached and sovereign Eritrean territories occupied? No one can be deceived by this illegal notion, which can serve no purpose other than to obscure the cardinal issue and to buy time. The Resolution urges that "the Boundary Commission be enabled to fulfill its mandate." But how can the Boundary Commission be expected to fulfill its mandate, when US Administration officials have for the past five years been concocting incessant obstacles and "alternative mechanisms" to prevent the EEBC from conducting its business, and when, even at this late hour, they have coerced and cajoled the UNSC to adopt a deceptive Resolution that has nothing to do with legality and that is aimed at corroding the cardinal issues. Ladies and Gentlemen, After 5 years of deliberate violations of Agreements, arbitration decisions and the rule of law, the Government and people of Eritrea cannot be expected to seriously consider an illegal Resolution that was primarily concocted to spawn more complications. The EEBC must be allowed to demarcate on the ground its Delimitation Decision without illegal meddling, obstructions or meanderings. The Security Council must also be allowed to shoulder its obligations on the basis of Chapter Seven of the UN Charter and the provisions of the Peace Agreement. It must otherwise be underlined that primary responsibility for the obstructions and deleterious consequences of the past five years, and for new obstacles and negative consequences that may unfold in the period ahead, does not rest on the Security Council but on US Administration officials. Ladies and Gentlemen, I had originally intended to talk about regional issues; especially the dangerous interventions and complications we see in the Sudan and Somalia . However, as these matters have been broached in numerous recent statements and for the sake of brevity, I shall only ask you to recall the remarks I made at this time last year in regard to the nature and status of international affairs in the post Cold War era. Dear Compatriots at Home and Abroad, We have scaled formidable challenges, obstructions and complications to reach a stage with much higher prospects and possibilities. Still, the challenges that will confront us should not be underrated. We must thus work with higher vigour and steadfastness. I wish to thank and extend my congratulations to all my compatriots at home and abroad and to all branches of the Government and the PFDJ. Special thanks are, above all, due to our Defense Forces who are making unparallel contributions to the security and economic growth of our country by paying heavy sacrifices and enduring lost opportunities. In conclusion, I wish to thank all the artists and the youth who have toiled hard to make the celebrations of the 16th anniversary of our independence, like other sacred occasions, vibrant and an occasion for buttressing public awareness and steadfastness. My best wishes for a happy year and good rains Glory to our Martyrs who made our existence possible Victory to the Masses!

Purdue Creates Scientifically Based Animation of 9/11 Attack

Although most Americans believe they know what brought down the World Trade Center twin towers on Sept. 11, 2001, civil engineers are still seeking answers to questions that could save lives in the future. Structural engineers need to know from a scientific perspective what happened to the buildings during the terrorist attacks in order to prevent future failures. The search for answers continues with the help of a state-of-the-art animated visualization created by researchers at Purdue University. Christoph Hoffmann, a professor of computer science and director of Purdue's Rosen Center for Advanced Computing, a division of Information Technology at Purdue, says the animation reveals more information than could be conveyed through a scientific simulation alone. "Scientific simulations restrict us to showing the things that are absolutely essential to the engineer," Hoffmann says. "This gives us a simulation that doesn't deliver much visual information to a layperson. Our animation takes that scientific model and adds back the visual information required to make it a more effective communication tool." The scientific simulation, the completion of which was announced last September, required several test runs before the researchers were satisfied; the final test run required more than 80 hours of high-performance computing. The simulation depicts how a plane tore through several stories of the World Trade Center north tower within a half-second and found that the weight of the fuel acted like a flash flood of flaming liquid, knocking out essential structural columns within the building and removing fireproofing insulation from other support structures. The simulation used lines and dots to show the aircraft and building during the event. To develop the new animated visualization, Voicu Popescu, an assistant professor of computer science, developed a translator application that creates a link between computer simulations and computer visualization systems to automatically translate simulation data into a 3-D animation scene. "This translator is scalable and can be used in other simulations," Popescu says. In the animation, elements that were not part of the scientific simulation, such as flames and smoke, are clearly rendered, although the visualization does not show the subsequent effects of the fire. Even though details were added in this animation, Popescu says the visualization was intentionally kept "non-descript" so that they would not be exploitive of the horrific attack. "For example, on the airplane there are no airline insignia or windows," Popescu says. Still, Popescu says the visualization has a realism never seen before. "The crashes and computer models you often see on television are not scientifically accurate," he says. "This provides an alternative that is useful to the nonexpert but is also scientifically accurate, so it provides a more realistic picture of the event." The visualization begins with a Google Earth map of lower Manhattan as it appeared on Sept. 11, 2001. The video then shows the damage caused by the aircraft as it hit the north tower, follows the disintegrating plane through the interior, and then shows the airplane metal, ignited fuel, dust and smoke exiting the building on the opposite side. The simulation found that the airplane's metal skin peeled away shortly after impact and shows how the titanium jet engine shafts flew through the building like bullets. As with an earlier simulation developed by this team that examined the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, the World Trade Center simulation showed that it was the weight of the 10,000 gallons of fuel more than anything else that caused the damage. "It is the weight, the kinetic energy of the fuel that causes much of the damage in these events," Hoffmann says. "If it weren't for the subsequent fire, the structural damage might be almost the same if the planes had been filled with water instead of fuel." Mete Sozen, Purdue's Kettlehut Distinguished Professor of Structural Engineering and a principal investigator on the simulation project, says the researchers worked for years and used the best computing resources available to recreate the event. "To estimate the serious damage to the World Trade Center core columns, we assembled a detailed numerical model of the impacting aircraft as well as a detailed numerical model of the top 20 stories of the building," Sozen says. "We then used weeks of supercomputer time over a number of years to simulate the event in many credible angles of impact of the aircraft." Sozen says the actual damage to the building's facade that was observed was identical to the damage shown by the numerical simulation. "We calibrated our calculations using data from experiments we had conducted to evaluate the energy imparted from fluid moving at high speed to solid targets," he says. "We concluded that the damage map we calculated for our numerical model of the building would correspond closely to the actual extent of the damage." The simulation represented the plane and its mass as a mesh of hundreds of thousands of "finite elements," or small squares containing specific physical characteristics. In the visualization, these scientific data points are used to show how airplane components swept through the building and out through the other side as the fuel ignited. "The aircraft moved through the building as if it were a hot and fast lava flow," Sozen says. "Consequently, much of the fireproofing insulation was ripped off the structure. Even if all of the columns and girders had survived the impact - an unlikely event - the structure would fail as the result of a buckling of the columns. The heat from an ordinary office fire would suffice to soften and weaken the unprotected steel. Evaluation of the effects of the fire on the core column structure, with the insulation removed by the impact, showed that collapse would follow whatever the number of columns cut at the time of the impact." The animation is the latest in a series of projects by the Purdue team that arose after 9/11 to determine the structural damage that occurs when an airplane collides with a building. Although one goal was to develop structures that can withstand a terrorist attack, the team also has used this research to investigate other scenarios, such as an airplane inadvertently crashing into a building located near an airport. "This is important work that has many more applications than we first thought," Hoffmann says. "The important thing is that we are learning so much in so many different areas." The research was funded in part by the National Science Foundation. Others involved in the research are civil engineering assistant professors Ayhan Irfanoglu and Santiago Puiol, computer science doctoral student Paul Rosen, and civil engineering doctoral students Oscar Ardila and Ingo Brachmann. Ethiopian Airlines Hijack 1996

On November 23, 1996, an Ethiopian Airlines B-767 aircraft en route from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Nairobi, Kenya, was hijacked by three Ethiopian males. The aircraft carried 163 passengers and 12 crew members from over 35 nations. The hijacking occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. (zulu) in Ethiopian airspace. Approximately 20 minutes into the flight, the three Ethiopian males separately approached the cockpit from the rear of the aircraft. At least two of them had been in the lavatory before the aircraft took off. One of the men ran down the aisle toward the cockpit shouting statements that could not be understood, and his two accomplices followed soon after. The hijackers were described as young (mid-twenties), inexperienced, psychologically fragile, and intoxicated. They were clean shaven and dressed in Western clothes, and one wore a black stocking cap which covered his face. When the three men reached the cockpit, one or more forced their way in. After 15 minutes, the co-pilot had been beaten and forced from the flight deck. The hijackers were armed with a fire extinguisher and small fire ax, and they threatened to blow up the plane with a bomb. The hijackers announced on the intercom in Amharic, French, and broken English that they were "opponents" of the Ethiopian government seeking political asylum and had recently been released from prison. They stated they were changing the direction of the aircraft and threatened to blow it up if interfered with. It was later discovered that their "bomb" was a covered, unopened bottle of liquor. The hijackers instructed the pilot to fly to Australia at an altitude of 39,000 feet, saying they knew that the aircraft could reach that destination since it could fly 11 hours. During the course of the hijacking, however, arguments erupted as the pilot tried to convince the three men that the plane was running out of fuel. Two of the hijackers remained in the cockpit, while the third man was posted outside the door. During the four-hour ordeal, the hijackers were primarily interested in keeping firm control of the cockpit area, and they never returned to other sections of the aircraft. Occasionally, however, the two men in the cockpit met with their accomplice. The hijackers appeared uninterested in the passengers as long as they kept away from the cockpit. No interaction existed between the hijackers and passengers; passports, identity papers, or nationalities were not requested. The mood of the hijacking was unusual in that the passengers carried on their normal activities of eating, reading, sleeping, and conversing quietly without interference. The passengers had the impression that the hijackers were unprepared and not well rehearsed. The consensus among the passengers was that an assault against the hijackers would be safer when the aircraft landed for refueling rather than in flight because of the risk of provoking the three men to detonate the explosive device. Escaping out the emergency exits once the aircraft had landed to refuel was also part of the passengers' planning. Overall, the passengers were calm; however, they were unaware of arguments between the pilot and the hijackers regarding the aircraft's destination and dwindling fuel reserves. The passengers, furthermore, had no idea of the direction of the aircraft and only guessed it had taken a southern route to eastern Zaire. The pilot was flying south along the east coast of Africa instead of east over the Indian Ocean toward Australia as instructed by the hijackers. Three and one-half hours into the flight, one engine ran out of fuel and stopped, causing the aircraft to drop from 39,000 to 25,000 feet. Upon realizing that their instructions had not been followed, the hijackers reacted strongly by threatening the pilot, who thought the hijackers would detonate the explosive device or take some other extreme action. The pilot then made the first of only two communications to the passengers during the ordeal, informing them of the fuel shortage and the loss of an engine. His further instructions were to maintain calm and prepare for an emergency landing by securely putting on, but not inflating, life jackets. The reaction of the passengers to these instructions ranged from calm to panic. In the business class section, the search for life jackets was initiated by a passenger. While the flight attendants assisted those who were distraught, the passenger located the life jackets in an unmarked metal box Iying between the seats and assisted in distributing them. The plane continued to lose altitude and began to sway. A few passengers stood up motioning an intent to confront the hijackers, but the rest of the passengers urged against the action. Much of this time was consumed by instructions being exchanged between passengers and crew on proper use of the life jackets. Despite the crew's instructions, sounds of life jackets being inflated could be heard throughout of the aircraft. Advertisement Soon after his first communication to the passengers, the pilot make his second and final announcement instructing passengers to assume a pre-crash position. This involved their bending forward with pillows on their heads in order to brace for a hard landing. The passengers' reactions were the same as earlier, varying from calm to panic. At least one flight attendant prayed on the floor, and a father held three children in his lap. One physically large passenger again urged that the hijackers be attacked, but the consensus among other passengers remained that such action would result in everyone's death. The pilot signed off by stating that the passengers knew the hijackers were responsible and implied that if the hijackers survived, the passengers would be able to identify them. By now, the aircraft had run out of fuel, the second engine had stopped, and the plane continued to lose altitude. Electricity was out and the cabin became dark and quiet. The plane was approaching the Comoros Islands. The pilot had been given clearance to land at Moroni Airport, Grand Comoro, but he knew the plane would not reach it. He tried to land the plane in the water near the Galawa seaside resort. The hijackers, however, realizing that they had failed, attempted to take control of the instruments. They wanted to turn the hijacking into a suicide mission by crashing into the resort. The struggle in the cockpit between the pilot and a hijacker was evident as the aircraft, gliding at 200 miles per hour without flaps down, approached the water. Presumably, a wing tip skimmed the water, which caused the plane to overturn at least once and break into three segments. The plane crashed 500 yards from the resort and 16 miles from Moroni Airport; 123 of the 175 passengers and crew died. The majority of the survivors were hanging on to the fuselage section, which was floating; the rear section of the plane was submerged. Many victims were killed as a direct result of the impact, or they drowned because their inflated life jackets prevented them from swimming out of the water-filled fuselage. The pilot and copilot survived but the hijackers did not. Two suspects were initially detained but were not identified by the survivors as the hijackers and were released. Several boats and small vessels were immediately sent from the resort to the crash site. The resort's open air restaurant was turned into a triage station staffed by ten vacationing French and South African doctors, and patients were later sent to Moroni Hospital. Looting of the wreckage and victims by some locals also took place. Flight 961 was one of the deadliest hijackings in history. From 1990-1995, ten hijackings took place in Ethiopia by Ethiopians seeking political asylum and escape from poverty conditions in their country. However, only one injury resulted from these hijackings, and all the hijackers surrendered to authorities when the incidents were safely over. Flight 961 is significant in that it validates a continued threat to civil aviation in a region where air carrier activity has increased substantially in recent years. The threat against air carriers in the area is also heightened by the hijackers' change to lethal tactics not demonstrated in previous incidents.
