Why are Hydrogen Gas Savers all the rage?

While most people (including yours truly) are looking for tips to save gas you will most likely come across information about using a hydrogen gas saver system. But what exactly do these systems do. A short answer is that hydrogen gas savers are designed to give an additional power-up to your existing fuel injection to maximize your gas mileage.

These Systems Can Extract Oxygen and Hydrogen

The idea is to create HHO Gas which is seperating the hydrogen from the oxygen creating a powerful gas. When the cells are warmed they can draw between 2.4 and 2.9 amps per cell. Thus creating better gas mileage, better torque, decreased emissions and a cleaner burn inside the engine reducing deposits and general wear.

You can also refer to these devices as hydrogen generators or HHO booster devices, these hydrogen gas savers are based upon simple electrolysis of water. For the most part these systems require an electrolyte be added to assist in the creation of electricity. Hydrogen gas savers have been in production for many years now but are now getting more exposure due to the increase in oil, gas prices and the slagging economy in the USA.

One such example of a hydrogen gas saver in my local backyard if from a guy named Larry Thrasher which came up with is own gas saving device. In July 2008 he was on the local news channels where they covered him creating a system that took his 1996 Cadillac from 19 to 53mpg. He also has a 1996 Toyota that gets 71mpg. How to Add your Own Hydrogen Gas Saver to your Car

While there are many gas saver manuals floating around the web, none of them cover how to convert water for gas or how to run your car on water.

The best manual I found so far is called Water4Gas and the author Ozzie Freedom has clearly demonistrated his passion for letting all of us know about converting your gas engines to run HHO gas or hydrogen. It is worth looking into to start saving on gas, lowering your gas bill, and to start burning cleaner emissions.

Alright, it's been a couple of years since I posted this, and I've read some of the comments, so I think it's time to post some counterpoints to the most common statements. Some of you have mentioned putting the fire out with the lid. That was the first thing we did (before the video). The lid warped immediately and did nothing to smother the fire. You can see the guy holding the lid with tongs because it was still too hot to touch with bare hands from covering the fire moments before. Others have mentioned baking soda as the solution. We tried that, as you can see at the beginning of the video. As it turns out, baking soda is flammable at that high of a temperature. We would have needed a tremendous amount of it to put this fire out, and all we had was the one large box. Call the fire department? Turn your sound on and you'll hear the phone call. The video ends when I went to move my car so the fire department could get in. Don't put water on a grease fire: It's important to note WHY you've been told this since childhood. Water boils at a much lower temperature than oil burns, so it will splash oil everywhere when used on a grease fire. Since that oil is already on fire, it will spread the fire to whatever it lands on. Hydrogen Oxygen has an adiabatic flame temperature of about 3000 degrees kelvin, thats about half the temperature of the surface of the Sun. Question is... just for fun, can you put that into a pop bottle! Previously I've shown other fuel air burns, one similar to that used in most internal combustion engines (butane air), and the other as one of the more common rocket fuels (hydrogen oxygen). Both release lots of energy when they burn, which is of course what makes them suitable as fuels. The hydrogen oxygen burn though is particularly fascinating as it only produces water as an 'exhaust', further it produces very little water! Indeed to fill a bottle with hydrogen and oxygen you only need to turn about 0.5g of water into H2 and O2, and of course when you burn it you only recreate that half gram of water. To make life even more interesting, to actually do the electrolysis I use a 12 volt Li-ion polymer battery, very similar to those used in most laptops today, simply so folk can visualise in a very simple way the energy content in these everyday objects. Indeed the energy content is significantly higher as only a fraction of the energy I draw from this battery actually goes into creating the H2 and O2, while probably the majority goes into heating up the electrolysis solution. This video is a continuation of the first half of "The Real Mario-Kart" which is a collection of clips of me go-carting at my friend Darlene's farm. The beginning of this video shows the 5HP engine that replaced the original 3.5HP engine on the black go-cart. The 3.5HP blew at least three piston rods before it was finally put out of service. The 5HP came off an air compressor that sat outside for some time with the spark plug missing. Water made its way into the combustion chamber and rusted the gas valve open. The valve was pounded down with a hammer and then the engine was rebuilt. Amazingly the engine starts and still does, but it drinks oil.

In this video posted by the Walton County (FL) Sheriff's Department, Darryl Carpenter, Vice President of Florida-based CW Roberts Contracting and sub-contractor Otis Goodson, shows how hay, hay grass and straw can be used as a very effective environmentally correct oil spill cleanup solution. In a scene reminiscent of a primetime cooking show, the Carpenter and Goodson video shows how Coastal Bermuda and Bahia hay could be scattered over the surface of the ocean with hay blowers to absorb the oil. To start, the two men pour oil into two large pans of water, stir in the hay, add a little "wave action," then skim off the oil-soaked hay. The audience watching the Walton County video included representatives from BP (British Petroleum), the Coast Guard and the Sheriff's office. CW Roberts then asks BP and the Coast Guard for the chance to do a 10-acre live demonstration in Gulf waters. They were told that approval has to come from higher up, but can they say no to this environmentally correct oil spill cleanup solution, with just Hay and Straw? "We work along the whole Gulf of Mexico coastal area in Florida," says CW Roberts president, Charles Roberts. "We have everything mobilized. How to Test if Fertilizer Has Nitrates in it

In this video we show you how to test if a fertilizer has nitrates rather than urea or ammonia as its nitrogen source. The idea is quit simple, in a strongly acidic solution the nitrates will behave like nitric acid and dissolve copper metal releasing nitrogen dioxide gas. Looking for this gas is a strong indication for the presence of nitrates. WARNING: these reactions produce toxic nitrogen dioxide gas, this must be performed outside or in a fume hood. To perform the test, simply mix some of your fertilizer with water to dissolve the nitrates and then mix it with hydrochloric acid. Then add in some copper metal. The reaction is very slow to start up unless you heat it. A nerdy way of heating it on the spot without using a heater is to add a small ball of aluminum metal, don't use too much or it will go out of control. Stir the mixture as the aluminum dissolves to distribute the heat evenly. After the mixture is heated, place a glass container over the mixture to keep the gases in. If nitrogen dioxide is forming the distinctive brown nitrogen dioxide will fill the container. And that's how you can tell if there are nitrates in your fertilizer. If you want to test for ammonia (in case you have ammonium nitrate) just mix some fertilizer with half as much sodium hydroxide and add a little water to cover it.
