It is best to use a fuse for the HHO unit itself in order to prevent short circuits in or near the HHO generator. The wiring will vary here depending on the make and model of car. These mechanisms can prevent most flashbacks and explosions.
Last, make sure that your HHO generator is not running while the vehicle is off – you don’t want an accumulation of HHO in the hood or a leakage of HHO.
