There’s a lot of hype lately over using hydrogen fuel cells for your vehicle. If you want to build one, then you need to review some facts before you get started.

It’s not as hard as you may think. Look online and you will find a number of guides available. The best thing is that they are not all that expensive. So, if you screw it up or don’t like the results, you haven’t lost a fortune.

There are a lot of advantages to building a hydrogen fuel cell. For one thing, its cheap. If you’re looking for a very efficient, cost-effective energy source, making a hydrogen fuel cell will fit the bill. It doesn’t require a large amount of money or resources to put together.

Your local hardware store is probably your best bet for getting parts. The parts are not that expensive and easy to obtain. Building your hydrogen fuel cell is not that complicated and is fun to build in a weekend.

It should take you no more than a few hours to get it put on with the proper instruction. It being fun, is one of the other advantages of building a Hydrogen Fuel Cell. You need a quart container, baking soda and electrical wire for hooking up to the battery.

If you don’t want to go to the hassle of buying all of the parts one by one from the hardware store, you can purchase an HHO car guide online. An HHO guide has all the instructions you’ll need plus on how-to build it.

If you have all your parts gathered up, you should be able to put everything together in a few hours. All it takes is some common sense mechanical skills and you have a hydrogen fuel cell. Pretty cool huh?

Step-by-step instructions, included with the guides, makes this an easy project to do. It’s not complicated at all to do.

So there you are. You have your materials. You’ve done a bit of research if you are putting it together separately. You either researched online, and now you’re ready to build your hydrogen fuel cell for your car.

If you decided to buy your materials, one by one, you’ll need to look online to find some instructions in order to get started. You can also go to YouTube and look at a number of very helpful videos that should get you up and running in short order.

An increase in your miles per gallon and helping save the environment will be a great satisfaction to you. You are on the brink of new technology here. And you can get it now.

Now that you see how easy it is to build a hydrogen fuel cell, there should be no reason for you not to go out and either purchase a guide or a kit. Get the materials so that you can get started on what will be just a weekend project.

The surface area and the distance between the tubes plays a big factor in your gas production. The closer the spacing, the less resistance there will be from tube to tube, thus more current can flow, thus more gas can be produced. Adding electrolites to the water lowers the resistance even more, wich causes it to produce more gas. We add Sodium Hydroxide in small amounts, a little at a time, and monitor the current (amperage). Ohms Law is working here, not rocket science, but it does require some experimenting. The cell runing in the video is using 15 amps. I have run as much as 60 amps on it. But my 60 amp alternator can not handle that for long periods unless it can be kept cool. I have not provide all of the answers for you here, but I do hope I have stired your interest. When our 12 volt DC power source is connected to the cell, the electrical pressure causes current to flow from one tube to another; negative to positive. A magnetic field is created around the tubes. You can see it drawing the tiny bubbles down towards the bottom of the cell. They then cycle back to the top, between the tubes. The outside tube has the most influence on the bubbles moving in a downward direction. The magnetic flux movement is from North to South on the outside and South to North on the inside of the tubes. Electrolysis takes place on the surface of the tubes. Therefore, surface area on the tubes plays a part in the quantity of HHO that can be produced. When DC voltage is applied to the tubes it causes a chemical reaction in the water molecules. The water molecules H+ ions become attracted to the Negative Cathode in the cell, and OH- ions become attracted to the Positive Anode. The byproduct is HH gas on the Cathode tube and O gas on the Anode tube. In other words, the release of the positive hydrogen and negative oxygen gas. If you could get down to eye level with the waters surface, you would see tiny bubbles jumping out of the water and popping. Looks similar to those caused by pouring carbonated water. The popping of the bubbles sets the gas free as it rises. The hydrogen is 14 times lighter than air ...

Why are Hydrogen Gas Savers all the rage?

While most people (including yours truly) are looking for tips to save gas you will most likely come across information about using a hydrogen gas saver system. But what exactly do these systems do. A short answer is that hydrogen gas savers are designed to give an additional power-up to your existing fuel injection to maximize your gas mileage.

These Systems Can Extract Oxygen and Hydrogen

The idea is to create HHO Gas which is seperating the hydrogen from the oxygen creating a powerful gas. When the cells are warmed they can draw between 2.4 and 2.9 amps per cell. Thus creating better gas mileage, better torque, decreased emissions and a cleaner burn inside the engine reducing deposits and general wear.

You can also refer to these devices as hydrogen generators or HHO booster devices, these hydrogen gas savers are based upon simple electrolysis of water. For the most part these systems require an electrolyte be added to assist in the creation of electricity. Hydrogen gas savers have been in production for many years now but are now getting more exposure due to the increase in oil, gas prices and the slagging economy in the USA.

One such example of a hydrogen gas saver in my local backyard if from a guy named Larry Thrasher which came up with is own gas saving device. In July 2008 he was on the local news channels where they covered him creating a system that took his 1996 Cadillac from 19 to 53mpg. He also has a 1996 Toyota that gets 71mpg. How to Add your Own Hydrogen Gas Saver to your Car

While there are many gas saver manuals floating around the web, none of them cover how to convert water for gas or how to run your car on water.

The best manual I found so far is called Water4Gas and the author Ozzie Freedom has clearly demonistrated his passion for letting all of us know about converting your gas engines to run HHO gas or hydrogen. It is worth looking into to start saving on gas, lowering your gas bill, and to start burning cleaner emissions.

Season to taste. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes. 4. In a separate saucepan melt the butter and stir in the flour. Cook for 1 minute to form a paste. Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously to avoid any lumps. Bring to the boil and remove from the heat. 5. Place three lasagna sheets onto the base of a greased 25cmx25cm (10x10in) square ovenproof dish. Top with half the meat and a little of the white sauce and spread roughly. If GM were serious, it would first admit that past Electric cars, such as the EV1, RAV4-EV and HondaEV, were successful and worked well, were beloved by their drivers, and didn't have any problem with "RANGE" or "RECHARGE". In fact, there were no problems with the EV1 or any other Electric car except the fact that the Alliance of Auto Makers (AAM) members were unwilling to sell them to willing buyers. Unique to auto sales, the AAM just would not let go of EVs, insisting on keeping their mitts into the panties of EV buyers, controlling the EV, keeping it and refusing to alienate it by selling it. If GM were honest, it would admit that the EV1 didn't have a range problem, wasn't turned in because it took too long to charge, and there weren't drivers sitting on tenterhooks afraid of running out of juice. All those "reasons" were just plain false, and, if repeated by GM, just plain lies. Now because of the current rise in gasoline prices there have been a flood of products to the market that claim to be hydrogen gas savers. Now I will mention a few products that have been well tested and are recommended by all of us here at hho-gas.org.

First off there are E-Books available that fully document how to create your own hydrogen gas saver unit. (We actually used the following guide for our own device)

- Water4Gas is highly recommended. The author Ozzie Freedom has extensive knowledge about these kits and will show you the very best and safest way to add one to your car.

If you don’t want to create a hydrogen gas saver yourself, your in luck because there are a few units available to purchase. One such unit we bought was from Punch HHO systems. We used the 1.0 model and installing was simple enough for our mechanichs. If you don’t have qualified auto repair experience it may be best to seek one out.

Here are a couple of good videos that show first how massive amounts of hydrogen can be produced from water and second what this looks like under the hood. With gasoline prices the way they are, many people are taking it into their own hands to save gas now rather than waiting for the Big 6 automakers or oil companies to get around to it. Most people just don’t know that this option is available.

Hydrogen Oxygen has an adiabatic flame temperature of about 3000 degrees kelvin, thats about half the temperature of the surface of the Sun. Question is... just for fun, can you put that into a pop bottle! Previously I've shown other fuel air burns, one similar to that used in most internal combustion engines (butane air), and the other as one of the more common rocket fuels (hydrogen oxygen). Both release lots of energy when they burn, which is of course what makes them suitable as fuels. The hydrogen oxygen burn though is particularly fascinating as it only produces water as an 'exhaust', further it produces very little water! Indeed to fill a bottle with hydrogen and oxygen you only need to turn about 0.5g of water into H2 and O2, and of course when you burn it you only recreate that half gram of water. To make life even more interesting, to actually do the electrolysis I use a 12 volt Li-ion polymer battery, very similar to those used in most laptops today, simply so folk can visualise in a very simple way the energy content in these everyday objects. A comparison of the fuel-air flame speeds in butane/air and hydrogen air mixtures. The mixtures in each case are near stoichiometry. Hydocarbons-air mixtures are typically what cars run on, just with octane-air rather than butane air. You can run rockets on liquid hydrocarbons/liquid oxygen, indeed the heavy lift section of the saturn V rocket ran on liquids oxygen (LOX) and kerosene (a moderately long chain hydrocarbon). While per unit volume of gasious combustion this actually produces more energy than the hydrogen-air mixture, the nature of that energy (spread over more molecules, with a lower temperature) means that its not a good a propellant as hydrogen-air. Hydrogen-air mixture have ferocious combustion speeds, over a vast composition range. As the energy of the reaction goes almost exclusively into the water molecules produces (which are very steam), it makes an excellent rocket propellant. Naturally most of the gas in these bottles is the nitrogen that makes up 4/5 of our atmosphere. If it were simply a H2/O2 mixture the explosion would be about 2-3x as big. Rockets run on liquidized fuel. As a rule of thumb, there is about a 1000 fold increase in density on liquefaction.
